A truly magnificent scene unfolded yesterday morning at Marina Barrage, as 5,000 participants gathered for Run For Hope 2025, standing united in the fight against cancer. For the second consecutive year, the event reached its full capacity, showcasing a powerful testament to Singapore’s enduring community spirit, perseverance, and hope.

Now in its 32nd edition, Run For Hope continues its long-standing mission of raising awareness and funds for cancer research. The event has been organised by Four Seasons Hotel Singapore since 1993 and has partnered with the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) since 2008, growing into one of Singapore’s most iconic symbols of solidarity in the battle against cancer.

The morning event was graced by Guest of Honour Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Social and Family Development, who officially flagged off the 5km and 10km run categories.

“It’s incredibly moving to see 5,000 people rally once again for this important cause,” shared Peter Draminsky, Regional Vice President and General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Singapore. “We are proud to stand alongside National Cancer Centre Singapore and the Singapore community in driving progress towards a cancer free future. Run For Hope truly demonstrates the strength of what we can achieve together, and we invite the public to join us in this shared mission by continuing to support life saving research.”
As the sun rose over Marina Barrage, the air was filled with energy.
Cancer survivors, caregivers, families, and supporters ran side by side, dedicating their strides to loved ones lost or still bravely fighting the disease. The core mission of the event is to empower the community to make a tangible difference through awareness, research, and unity.

Beyond the course, participants were invited to dedicate their runs to the “Bibs of Bravery” tribute wall to honour loved ones and heroes affected by cancer. I participated in the 10km run with my son Asher and it was a meaningful way to spend our Saturday morning.

One of the inspiring individuals present was Lin Jiahui, who was diagnosed with stage 4 ROS1 positive lung cancer in May 2024. Despite her diagnosis, Jiahui remains active, cycling short distances and pursuing photography, a passion she shared with her late best friend, Anna, who passed away from cervical cancer earlier this year. Joining Run For Hope for the second year, Jiahui dedicated her 5km run to Anna, carrying forward a powerful story of hope and quiet strength.
“Run For Hope embodies the spirit of togetherness in our nation’s fight against cancer,” said Prof Lim Soon Thye, CEO, NCCS. “More Singaporeans are being diagnosed with cancer every day, so it is vital that we keep innovating to improve treatment outcomes and survival rates for cancer patients. The funds raised from today’s meaningful event help to further advance cancer research that can save lives. We are deeply grateful to Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, our sponsors and participants for sharing our vision to offer all cancer patients and their families hope for a cancer free tomorrow.”
As Singapore’s longest running cancer awareness and research event, Run For Hope continues to be a rallying point for courage and compassion. This year’s event has successfully raised S$$411,000 for the National Cancer Centre Research Fund to date, and members of the public can continue to support the cause by contributing to Run For Hope until 31 December, 2025.
