SINGAPORE: A resident has complained about his neighbour at Block 345 Yishun Ave 11, who obstructs their corridor with plants and often burns incense very early in the morning. According to him, brushing against the plants while walking by can result in scratches.

The resident admitted: “He anyhow keeps plants along the corridor and purposely arranges them so that other residents will kena scratch… It’s a hindrance to walk.”

The photos shared by the resident showed a mess, including a potted plant which had fallen on the ground. The resident declared that his neighbour does not know how to keep the corridor clean.

“Is he expecting me to clean for him?… He also burns incense along the corridor until it’s so smoky, even at 2am.”

The resident claimed that he has made several reports to “multiple parties” for more than five years, but it had no effect.

In response to Stomp, the Nee Soo Town Council stated that they were aware of the feedback provided by the resident and their team is inspecting the area with the HDB. They also admitted that they spoke to the neighbour to reduce the number of plants and trim them to minimise the clutter in the corridor.

“We will continue to monitor the area and follow up with the resident as needed…. We encourage all residents to keep shared spaces tidy and accessible to maintain a safe and pleasant living environment for everyone,” the spokesperson stated.

In similar news, an HDB resident at New Upper Changi Road in Bedok complained that her shoes were not always where she left them on her rack outside her flat.

CCTV footage showed that her female neighbour was the one behind this act. The neighbour was seen bending down to pick up two pairs of the resident’s footwear from the rack and walking a few steps to place the shoes on another rack randomly.

After numerous incidents, the resident decided to lodge a police report. Read more of the story here
