Deepening Ties with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore

Google has renewed its partnership with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) through a new Memorandum of Cooperation, advancing joint efforts in AI-powered threat intelligence sharing, coordinated operations against cyberattacks, and technical collaboration on cutting-edge AI security solutions. The partnership also emphasizes capacity-building initiatives to strengthen national cyber readiness.

This builds on previous joint projects from 2023, including an AI agents sandbox between Google, CSA, GovTech, and IMDA a testing ground for deploying agentic AI solutions in public sector operations to stay ahead of emerging cyber risks.

Enhancing Public Sector Cyber Resilience

As AI adoption grows across government agencies, the need for advanced cybersecurity is paramount. The Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) has implemented Google Cloud Cybershield, a national-scale AI-driven defense framework.

Cybershield consolidates fragmented data, improves visibility of attacker behaviors, and addresses talent gaps through:

  • A nationwide Security Operations Center (SOC) for federated threat detection, and
  • Expert guidance from Mandiant, Google’s cybersecurity intelligence arm, to enhance the nation’s proactive defense capabilities.

This ensures Singapore’s public sector is better equipped to anticipate, identify, and neutralize threats with confidence.

Empowering Businesses and Individuals Against Digital Threats

To bolster cyber literacy among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and non-profits, Google.org is partnering with The Asia Foundation to launch student-led Cybersecurity Clinics at Temasek Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic.

These clinics will conduct Cyber Essentials workshops covering key topics such as phishing prevention, data backup strategies, and safe online practices. The initiative, part of the Google.org APAC Cybersecurity Fund, aims to help smaller organizations strengthen their cybersecurity posture through hands-on learning and community engagement.

Educating Singaporeans Through Interactive Learning

For individuals, Google has launched “Be Scam Ready”, an interactive online game that helps users identify and resist common scam tactics. By safely simulating manipulation strategies, the game trains players to build psychological resilience against real-world scams.

Additionally, Google has introduced new security enhancements to Google Messages, including:

  • Safer Links, which alerts users to suspicious URLs in text messages and blocks access to potentially harmful sites, and
  • Key Verifier, a new feature that allows users to scan QR codes to confirm trusted contacts, safeguarding private encrypted conversations.

These updates complement Google’s broader anti-fraud measures, such as enhanced fraud protection on Google Play Protect, first launched in Singapore. As of September 2025, Play Protect has blocked 2.78 million high-risk app installations across 622,000 devices, preventing over 48,000 malicious apps from being used in financial scams.
