Singapore Oceanarium is making waves this November with Animal Spotlight: Sea Jellies, a three-week celebration that spotlights the beauty and ecological importance of one of the ocean’s oldest creatures. Running from 1 to 23 November 2025, the series coincides with World Sea Jelly Day on 3 November and aims to reshape how we view these graceful marine drifters not as stingers, but as vital guardians of the ocean.

Dive into Sea Jelly Conservation
Guests can step behind the scenes through a 45-minute guided experience that reveals how sea jellies are cared for, fed, and bred. Held four times daily, the Animal Spotlight: Sea Jellies programme lets visitors observe husbandry practices up close while learning about conservation efforts. Each participant will receive an exclusive sea jelly plush keychain.
- Dates: 1–23 November 2025
- Price: $28 per person (ages 4+) as an add-on to the oceanarium’s one-day ticket.
Learn from a World Expert
On 1 November 2025, Professor Hiroshi Miyake from Kitasato University will lead an Expert Sharing Session at the Research and Learning Centre. Titled “Collaborative Rearing Research on Sea Jellies and Deep-Sea Animals with Aquariums”, the talk will reveal how scientists and aquariums work together to better understand these species and their role in marine ecosystems.
Before the session, guests can join a hands-on workshop exploring sea jelly diversity through plankton sampling and species identification under the microscope, a rare chance to experience marine science in action.
Family-Friendly Fun and Themed Experiences
Beyond the spotlight tours, the celebration brings a sea jelly twist to food, retail, and children’s activities:

- F&B Specials: Try a Sea Jelly Mantou set at Explorer’s Nook or a Bubblegum Gelato topped with jellybeans and a Sea Jelly Mini Cookie at Tide Deli.
- Curated Retail: Shop exclusive souvenirs and ocean-inspired merchandise.
- Abyssal ArtVenture Workshops: A creative learning session in collaboration with the National Library Board, happening on 1, 8, and 15 November at various venues, including the Children’s Biodiversity Library.
Inspiring Ocean Advocacy
The Sea Jellies spotlight follows the successful Animal Spotlight: Manta Rays launch and is part of Singapore Oceanarium’s ongoing mission to inspire care for marine biodiversity. Other immersive experiences, like the Singapore Oceanarium Insider Experience, Ocean in Focus: Into the Abyss tour, and Fossilist Workshop, offer more ways for visitors to engage with the wonders of the deep.
