A cross-cultural love story is making waves this year as Romance By The Sea, a Singapore-Philippine co-production, gears up for its worldwide premiere in Q4 2024 on international vertical streaming platform Breetzee Play.

The series is co-produced by TCP Artistes Singapore and Virtual Playground Global Management (Philippines), with acclaimed Filipino filmmaker Easy Ferrer at the helm. Known for blending cultural authenticity with heartfelt storytelling, Ferrer explores universal themes of love, sacrifice, and belief in this island-set romance.
A Story of Love, Lies, and Legends
Set on the remote island of Kataw, the series follows Bebang, a hardworking islander who supports her family through odd jobs. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Kevin, a gullible yet big-hearted Singaporean tourist searching for a mythical mermaid said to hold the cure for his mother’s mysterious illness.
To make ends meet, Bebang, helped by her quirky friend Luloy, pretends to be the fabled mermaid. But as the deception grows, real emotions surface, leaving both Bebang and Kevin torn between truth and fantasy.
Rising Stars and Cross-Border Talent
The series stars Brian Ng, one of Singapore’s rising actors (Unforgivable, Kin, Third Rail), as Kevin, the idealistic tourist whose quest turns into an unexpected journey of love. Opposite him is Samantha Panlilio, Miss Grand International Philippines 2021, who takes on the role of Bebang, a resilient young woman caught between family duty and the pull of romance.
They are joined by David Matthew Ubana, a Filipino-Singaporean actor and content creator (Third Rail, Sunny Side Up), as Drew, Kevin’s pragmatic best friend. The cast is further enriched by Filipino talents including Anjo Pertierra, Ella Cristofani, Samantha Acosta, Karissa Toliongco, Jake Lawrence, Junina Raymundo, Pam Gonzales, and veteran actor Simon Ibarra.
