Royal Caribbean has officially welcomed its newest Icon Class ship, the Star of the Seas, with a dazzling naming ceremony at Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida. The milestone celebration took place at the ship’s AquaTheater, where research astronaut Kellie Gerardi bestowed her blessing on the vessel, its crew, and the millions of guests who will sail on board in the years ahead.

The ceremony marked the beginning of Star’s journey as the “ultimate family vacation,” following years of innovation and the dedication of thousands who brought the ship to life. Guests embarking on its maiden voyages can expect a record-breaking lineup of experiences that blend thrill, relaxation, entertainment, and world-class destinations – including Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.
Onboard, eight immersive neighborhoods offer something for every adventurer. Highlights include:
- Category 6 Waterpark – the largest at sea, packed with adrenaline-pumping slides.
- Crown’s Edge – a daring ropes course suspended 154 feet above the ocean.
- Seven pools, including the first suspended infinity pool at sea.
- Surfside Neighborhood – a stay-and-play-all-day space designed just for families with young kids.
- 40+ dining and bar options, ranging from casual bites to fine dining.
- Showstopping entertainment, including Back to the Future: The Musical and spectacular performances across ice, water, air, and stage.
Launching from Port Canaveral, Star of the Seas will sail 7-night itineraries across the Eastern and Western Caribbean, bringing travelers to bucket-list destinations alongside its sister ship, Icon of the Seas.
Royal Caribbean is also expanding its lineup with even more exclusive experiences over the next three years: Royal Beach Club Paradise Island (opening December 2025), Royal Beach Club Cozumel (2026), and Perfect Day Mexico (fall 2027).
