This International Cat Day, artist Alex Lim, better known as The Unskilled Boy, invites you into a whimsical, pop-art-filled world of whiskers and wonder. Launching today in celebration of International Cat Day (August 8) and Singapore’s 60th birthday, CAT NATION is a month-long online showcase of 60 original cat-themed artworks, created in support of the Cat Welfare Society (CWS) Singapore.

Known for his quirky visual storytelling and bold colours, the 20-year-old autistic artist returns with his second collaboration with CWS. His first, in 2021, raised over SGD 2,000 through the sale of more than 40 pieces. This time, he’s going bigger both in scale and heart.
60 Works for a Cause
The CAT NATION series features hand-painted works on wood panels and linen canvases, ranging in size from 21cm x 26cm, and priced from just SGD 90. Generously, Alex is covering all shipping costs himself. Even better, 35% of proceeds from each sale will go directly to support CWS’s work in caring for community cats and promoting responsible pet ownership.

Release Schedule
- August 8: First drop of 20 artworks
- August 15 & 22: 10 new pieces released each Friday
- August 29: Final 20 pieces go live
Commission Your Own Cat Portrait
Want something more personal? Commission a custom cat painting by Alex and 40% of the commission fee will also be donated to CWS. To inquire, simply WhatsApp 8453 1260.
Art Inspired by Carter
Behind CAT NATION is a heartfelt story. Alex found inspiration in Carter, a 15-month-old rescue cat once abandoned, now happily adopted by his family. Carter’s playful spirit, combined with the internet’s endless love for felines, shaped this offbeat and affectionate series that blends pop art, storytelling, and gentle absurdity.
