As the Singapore Olympic Foundation (SOF)-Peter Lim Scholarship celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2025, Kiat Lim—entrepreneur and son of philanthropist Peter Lim—continues to honour and build upon his family’s deep commitment to empowering young athletes across Singapore.

What began in 2010 with Peter Lim’s historic $10 million donation—the largest private contribution to youth sports development in Singapore—has blossomed into a cornerstone of local sports philanthropy. The scholarship’s mission is simple yet powerful: no promising athlete should be held back by financial limitations. In 2019, Lim reaffirmed this vision with another $10 million pledge, extending the scholarship through 2030.

To date, the SOF-Peter Lim Scholarship has disbursed over $12.61 million to support 5,269 student-athletes from across 57 sporting disciplines, including national heroes like Joseph Schooling, Shanti Pereira, and Cheyenne Goh.
This year’s ceremony, held at Temasek Convention Centre, saw 346 athletes from 106 schools awarded a total of $1.05 million, including 99 in the prestigious high-performance Under-18 category. The 2025 cohort features trailblazers like Kyra Seow Kai Hui, Singapore’s first Modern Pentathlon awardee, and Caitlyn Anne Tan, who competed in artistic swimming at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships.

Kiat Lim’s presence at the ceremony signaled not just support, but also a generational passing of the torch. His growing involvement reflects a sustained family vision to uplift and invest in Singapore’s youth through sport. Speaking alongside dignitaries including Mr Teo Chee Hean, Ms Grace Fu, and Mr Ng Ser Miang, Kiat reaffirmed the family’s continued belief in the power of sport to transform lives.
