Former Tanjong Pagar United player charged for punching Albirex Niigata rivals after SPL match

A former Tanjong Pagar United player has been charged in Singapore for allegedly assaulting two rival players.

Rizqin Aniq Rahaizad, 20, was charged in court on 23 July 2025 for two counts of voluntarily causing hurt.

The incident occurred on 10 February 2025 at Jurong East Stadium after a Singapore Premier League Under-21 match between Tanjong Pagar United and Albirex Niigata.

Rizqin is accused of punching a 17-year-old Albirex defender, whose identity is protected under the Children and Young Persons Act.

The teenager suffered mouth bleeding and tooth pain.

He is also alleged to have punched Albirex player Ho Matsuoka Evangelista Kenji Austin, known as Kenji Austin Ho, causing swelling and numbness to his jaw.

Albirex confirmed that Ho was admitted to hospital but discharged after examination.

Box 4

Rizqin was arrested following the incident.

His club terminated his contract, while the Football Association of Singapore banned him for 30 months and fined him S$2,000.

If convicted, Rizqin faces up to three years’ jail, a fine of up to S$5,000 or both for each charge.

Rizqin had made his senior SPL debut in September 2024 during a 6-0 defeat to Lion City Sailors and made three appearances in the top division.
