SINGAPORE: A 42-year-old man was charged on 12 June 2025 with the theft of several potted plants and gardening items.
Lee De Yuan allegedly committed the thefts between 5 and 8 June 2025 during the early hours of the morning.
The items reported stolen included 18 potted plants, three gold flowerpots and two white racks.
Among the plants taken were:
- Two large lohansong bonsai plants worth S$388 each
- Two small lohansong bonsai plants at S$68 each
- Two potted cactuses worth S$58 each
- Three fu gui plants priced at S$58 each
- Two camelia plants worth S$38 each
- One long song plant at S$38
- Four lucky bamboo plants at S$18 each
- Two han bonsai plants worth S$18 each
The total value of the stolen goods amounted to S$1,514.
According to a police news release, authorities were alerted to theft cases at a block along Yishun Avenue 11.
Officers reviewed closed-circuit television footage and police camera images to identify the suspect.
Lee was arrested on 10 June 2025, and the stolen items were subsequently recovered.
Lee’s case is scheduled to return to court on 19 June 2025.
If convicted of theft, he may face up to three years in jail, a fine, or both.
