SINGAPORE: A 54-year-old trailer driver is assisting police with investigations following an incident on Upper Bukit Timah Road on the evening of 9 April.

The accident occurred at the junction of Upper Bukit Timah Road and Gombak Avenue, where several concrete slabs reportedly fell off a trailer and onto the roadway.

A video shared on Telegram group “sgsecret” shows workers in yellow vests placing traffic cones around the scene, while all three lanes of the road appeared to be cordoned off, bringing traffic to a complete halt.

Another video posted on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page captured the extent of the disruption.

The aftermath revealed that the leftmost lane had been reopened to traffic, with a worker seen directing vehicles using a handheld “Go” sign.

Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force were alerted to the incident at 6.50pm. SCDF reported that its assistance was not required.

The driver is currently cooperating with ongoing investigations.

This is the latest in a series of trailer-related incidents.

On 19 March, another widely shared case involved a prefabricated concrete block falling from a trailer along a Tuas road, raising safety concerns about the transport of heavy construction materials.
