As the 2024/2025 Singapore Premier League intensifies, another round of high-stakes encounters with major potential implications at both ends of the table beckons as the league returns for Matchweek 27. To open proceedings, Brunei DPMM host Hougang United on Wednesday at the Jalan Besar Stadium, as the Cheetahs look to capitalise on an off-colour DPMM side, who are still winless in their opening five league games of 2025. At the other end of the table, all eyes will be on a titanic clash between Lion City Sailors and BG Tampines Rovers. The Stags would be desperate to make up ground on the runaway league leaders, whereas the Sailors know that a win here will strengthen their grip on the league title.

Two Thursday night matches wrap up the match week, first with Balestier Khalsa heading to the Jurong East Stadium to take on Albirex Niigata. The Tigers will be eyeing that fourth spot occupied by the Swans, and having only picked up one win so far in the year, expect them to come hungry for all three points. The other match sees East meets West as Tanjong Pagar United travel to Geylang International’s den at the Jalan Besar Stadium, with the Jaguars seeking to use their underdog status to propel them towards another upset.

Albirex have won their last 11 meetings against Balestier in the leagues. The Tigers’ last win in this fixture dates back to October 2015.

 

Balestier have only won two of their last ten games, but both of them have come away from home.
